Starskate Families,

Thank you to all the families who have contributed to our fundraising efforts to date. As previously communicated, the SFSC board set a $15,000 fundraising goal for this season at $250 per skater.  Please find the following update –

The Club raised $652.80 at our first bottle drive on Saturday, Oct. 19/19. A brief survey shows that 13 CanSkate families and 20 StarSkate families participated in the bottle drive and the Board thanks all who contributed.

Our Christmas tree/wreath/and poinsettia fundraiser was a big success. We raised $1037.50 with trees and wreaths and $890.60 in poinsettia sales for a total of $1928.10.

SFSC’s grand fundraising total to date is $2,580.90.

Please save the date as our next bottle drive is on Saturday, Nov. 30/19.  With Grey Cup happening today I am sure that friends, family, and neighbours will be having parties and will have some recyclables to donate.  We would appreciate it if each Starskate family contributes 2 bags again to our next bottle drive.   We understand that some families made big donations last time so thank you for that.  Here are some options to help you achieve your goal.

Option 1: Skaters can work together by creating a flier and delivering it to houses in your neighborhood. Your flier can mention that if you wish to donate you can leave your recyclables on the driveway and they will be picked up on a certain day and time.

Option 2: Skaters can work together and go door to door asking neighbours if they have recyclables.

Option 3: Ask extended family members such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Option 4: We understand that not everyone skates on Saturdays and it may be difficult to make it out to the rink on the day of the bottle drive. If this applies to you and you have recyclables to donate, please email me at or text me at 403-804-0809 and we can make arrangements for pick up.

Option 5: If you would like to make a cash or cheque donation to the Club you can do so by putting your contribution in an envelope with your name and placing it in the Springbank FSC mailbox at the arena. 

We can only achieve our overall fundraising goal for the season with the help of all our members.

The Club is planning on hosting a raffle in the New Year as well; thus, if any of our members are interested in organizing this initiative, please email me at
